My field of research is focused in general on multivariate data analysis, and more specifically biplots and graphical visualisation of multivariate data. Together with Prof Niël le Roux from Stellenbosch University and Prof John Gower from The Open University we formed a well-oiled research team. To date we published several papers and one monograph, Understanding Biplots while working on another on Canonical Analysis. Our research is both on theoretical developments of methods for visualisation of multivariate data, R software developed to implement methods and applications leading to new extensions of current methodology.

In July 2009 I moved to academia as associate professor at UCT. I continued my research with Prof le Roux and Gower since it proves to be a very fruitful and stimulating collaboration. However, I also became involved in other projects, applying multivariate analysis and visualisation methodology in practical applications, ranging from health science to sport. These applications generate new challenges resulting in the development of new statistical methodology. In January 2017 I joined Stellenbosch University as professor in statistics.
